Cold Comfort Songs, 1999
~ mostly acoustic guitar driven songs with a story format. I recorded this in my dining/living room on W. 93rd Street in NYC on one of the new portable DAWs from Roland. With help from friend David Spelman I was able to step into a whole new world of indie-music, record production and recording that I am still trying to wrap my head around. What a learning experience.

Fan review: Past the tracks, dreaming of Texas there's some cold comfort here. Gregory has all the yearning of early Springsteen, and the tenacity of Dylan in his prime. Cold Comfort Songs is too edgy to be classified as Folk and too ecclectic to be pawned off as Pop or Rock. The opener, St. Francis would make a fine hit single with some air play behind it. The song is as haunting as it's catchy. I Got A Gun is by far the darkest track, offset by Gregory's impressive sense of rhythm. My personal favorite is the woefully elegiac, Southern Man---the perfect accompaniment to a last cigarette and an empty bottle. If you're looking for Folk/Rock with a twist, here's your poison. - Kevin Orton, CDBaby
